Naju National Museum.

Welcome to the website of the Naju National Museum. / naju national museum

Hello, I am Park Joong-hwan, the Director of the Naju Museum.

The Naju National Museum opened its doors amid high anticipation in 2013 as the 12th national museum in the rural regions of Korea in 11 years after the establishment of the Chuncheon National Museum (2002).

It is a museum surrounded by the Bannam Gobungun (ancient royal tombs in Sinchon-ri, Deoksan-ri and Daean-ri), designated as Historic Site No. 513, and located near the Bogam-ri Gobungun (ancient royal tomb, Historic Site No. 404) and the Jami Fortress. It is a museum that’s truly in harmony with nature, where visitors can escape the hustle and bustle of the city life and enjoy a healing experience with the awe-inspiring view of the Bannam Gobungun built more than 1,500 years ago.

The Naju National Museum also serves as an open cultural space, where advanced technology and culture are brought together. We became the first domestic museum to introduce the exhibition guide system, using the near field communication (NFC) technology applied to smartphones. This means that visitors can receive the descriptions of the exhibits on their smartphones and share this information with others via social networking sites.

Also, we are dedicating our efforts to becoming an open space of culture, art and history that provides the visitors with hands-on experiences and encourages their active involvement. We became the first museum in Korea to implement an open-type storage system, with 2 of the 6 storages containing large observation windows that allow visitors to view what’s stored inside. Moreover, we have spacious experiential exhibition halls and opened the rooftop garden to the public for a more enjoyable experience.

We at the Naju National Museum will be committed to undergoing progressive development as a museum of the 21st century that incorporates the elements of the natural environment, history and advanced technology.

I ask that you show your support as we move forward.
